Gluten is a protein found in grains such as wheat, rye, and barley, whereas cheese comes from milk, making it naturally free from it.
That said, trace amounts can occasionally occur due to cross-contamination during processing, if cheese is processed in the same facility where gluten-containing products are also handled.
Extra caution is needed with processed or flavoured cheeses, as they may contain gluten-containing additives, thickeners, or seasonings. This is why it’s always a good idea to check the label, especially if you’re sensitive.
