BNF Launch vide Nutrition Seminar: 12th Oct 2009
The Britannia Nutrition Foundation organized its maiden seminar on Oct 12th 2009 at the India Habitat Centre ,New Delhi where speakers from various fields of nutrition, social science, medicine came together to discuss the issues facing nutrition and solutions for the same. Some of the speakers were
Prof. Patrick Stover – Head of Nutritional Sciences, Cornell University, New York, USA
Dr Stover was keynote speaker & focused on the translation of nutrition from research into policy
Mrs. Veena Rao , Former Secretary, Government of India with domain expertise in Nutrition discussed the economic issues related to malnutrition
Dr. Kiran Bedi – Retired, First and Highest Ranking Woman Police Officer, Founder General Secretary, Navjyoti India Foundation an NGO engaged in education & nutrition
Dr Kiran bedi spoke about how Nutrition and Education were closely linked to each other, and it is only when children are well fed that they are able to concentrate on studies.
Dr. Sasikaran – Director, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad
He spoke on the topic of Dietary Factors impacting Nutritional Status, especially among children
Ms. Mihoko Tamamura – Country Director, United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) Ms. Tamamura spoke about the need of the hour being public private partnerships and added that the World Food Programme was actively working to build partnerships with the corporate sector.
BNF Symposium: 31st Aug / Sep 1st 2010, New Delhi
The success of the first seminar with multi disciplinary participants has encouraged us to plan our next Nutrition Symposium on the eve of the National Nutrition Week (31st Aug/ 1st Sep) at New Delhi. The objective of this Symposium is to bring together experts in Nutritional Science, People Economics, Development Sector, and Medicine to “Drive Towards Nutritional Security in India”. We see the symposium revolve around 3 to 4 pillars.
