Professor Lawrence Haddad is the Director of the Institute of Development Studies in the UK and has conducted applied research worked at the intersection of malnutrition, poverty and agriculture for over 2 decades. Before joining IDS he was the Director of the Food Consumption and Nutrition Dvision of the International Food Policy Research Institute and prior to that a Lecturer in Development Economics at the University of Warwick in the UK.
Dr Rajan Sankar

Dr Sankar is a medical graduate from the University of Madras. He has specialised in internal medicine and endocrinology. Dr Sankar was the head of Thyroid Research Centre in the Defence Research and Development Organization in Delhi and retired from the Army Medical Corps in the rank of Colonel after 24 years of service.
Dr Sankar while posted in Sikkim, a Himalayan state in India, was responsible for conceptualizing and implementing a successful iodine deficiency disorders elimination programme in that state. He has been actively involved with IDD elimination activities in India and in the south Asia region.
In recognition of his contribution in the field of iodine deficiency disorders, Dr. Sankar was awarded the Sir Sriram Memorial Award by the National Academy of Medical Sciences of India in 1997 and the Sivanthi Adityan Gold Medal by the Association of Physician of India in the year 1990. He has been a member of the Steering Committee on Universal Salt Iodisation of the Government of India and is the Vice President of the Thyroid Association of India.
Dr Sankar has undergone training in Clinical Epidemiology and has been actively involved with programme evaluation and micronutrient deficiency elimination programs in India. He has published over 50 scientific publications in national and international journals. His special area of interest is Thyroid Disorders in Pregnancy and Thyroid Disorders in childhood and all micronutrient deficiency disorders and their control.
Dr Sankar has worked with the Micronutrient Initiative as their Regional Technical Advisor and then with the UNICEF as a Project Officer in the India Country Office at Delhi. He is now the Regional Representative in South Asia for the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN).

Prof Indira Chakravarty

Prof. Indira Chakravarty Sen is a member of the Food Safety Standards Authority of India. In the past she served as the Additional DGHS, Director and Dean at the All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health. She was also a Director at Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute.
Prof. Chakravarty did her Masters in Biochemistry at University College of Science, Calcutta in 1970. She obtained her PhD from the University of Calcutta in 1974 and followed it up with a D.Sc. in 1980. Dr. Chakravarty was awarded a fellowship by Cornell University, New York for her Post Doctoral Work in Advanced Lab Techniques. She has also been awarded fellowships by National Institutes of Health, USA, Johns Hopkins University and Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York
Dr. Chakravarty has received many awards and honours. These include the First Edourdo Souma Award by FAO of the United Nations and Daughter of the Soil award 2005.
Prof. Chakravarty has to her credit 190 full papers, 70 Reports and Articles, 300 Abstracts and 75 Communication Documents

Vivek Mishra

Working as a Governance Adviser with DFID India since 2008, Vivek Mishra has more than 12 years experience in governance, institutional development & social research. He has worked with Centre for Good Governance, Hyderabad on a wide range of governance reforms. In this connection he has also worked with the Government of India, with various state governments and the civil society. Vivek Mishra also worked with ORG-MARG (AC Nielsen) on a diverse range of customised social research assignments between 1996 and 2001
Vivek Mishra graduated in Physics from St.Stephen’s College in Delhi. He also has an MBA from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and a post graduate degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics.
